A MONITORING TOOL OF REGIONAL LANDSCAPES

As part of the project Measuring Economic Freedom, the paper "A Monitoring Tool of Regional Landscapes", focusing on an in-depth analysis of the Italian regions, is released in February 2024 thanks to the support of FNF Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.

The project debuted in 1997 when Centro Einaudi joined the Economic Freedom Network as the Italian collaborator for the annual report of the Fraser Institute di Vancouver. In 2001, with the newspaper "Corriere della Sera", the Index of Economic Freedom of the European Union (ILEUE) is developed, and in 2002 the analysis is extended to some European Union (EU) candidate countries. In 2004, the Index of Economic Freedom of Italian Regions (ILERI) is designed and introduced for the first time. The 2007 edition further expands the analysis by considering all 27 EU countries and comparing the results with analyses of Japan, the United States, and countries bordering the Mediterranean basin. An in-depth study of Central and Eastern Europe and North African countries follows in 2011. The project further developed with the presentation in Rome in 2019 of the study "Come cresce l'Italia: libertà economica nelle Regioni e attrattività del Paese”, and the 2020 publication "EU Accession and Economic Freedom" by the European Liberal Forum, KEFIM, and Centro Einaudi.
