Under this heading we publish material that we hope may help English-speaking audiences better understand the current state of Italian affairs. The country is in need of reform, but so far reforms have proved difficult to implement because of the entrenched privileges that grip the Italian system. The road to reform will be long, insofar as it requires the opening up of all sorts of restrictions, including mazes of red tape.
In no way will "the Italian job" be done in just a few months. But setting aside misconceptions, it is also true that work has started, and that a number of significant goals have been reached. The Centro Einaudi aims at documenting the current state of affairs in Italy, by providing insightful research and independent policy analysis.
