This paper examines the doctor-patient relationship in the specific case of elderly individuals with a migrant background. It argues that the experience of ageing, combined with cultural differences between patient and medical staff, requires a specific approach to care that considers the patient’s personal and cultural history, as well as their current life stage. The analysis draws on a first-person perspective, employing a phenomenological methodology to delineate the structural aspects of the ageing experience. The study emphasises the importance of empathy, cultural awareness, and teamwork as essential components of providing effective care to elderly migrants.
